In June 2024, the Malaysian government unveiled a landmark revamp of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme — a prestigious residency scheme that grants foreigners the privilege of living in Malaysia on a long-term visa.
The new framework introduces a three-tier structure — Silver, Gold, and Platinum — each offering distinct pathways, tailored financial commitments, and varying visa durations. A major highlight of the reform is the mandatory acquisition of property, with participants required to hold their investment for at least 10 years, reinforcing Malaysia’s vision of sustainable, long-term residency.
In addition, a special visa category has been created for those residing in financial hubs and Special Economic Zones (SEZs), providing a more flexible gateway for global investors.
Through this transformation, applicants are now classified into three exclusive tiers — Silver, Gold, and Platinum — each defined by progressive fixed deposit thresholds and differentiated visa tenures, setting a new benchmark for Malaysia’s residency landscape.
